Cabinet of curiosities - a unique printer's tray wall hanging containing an assemblage of vintage and found objects including sea urchins, clock mechanisms, small bird and animal bones, million year old fossils, vintage dominoes, patinated and rusted metal objects, old photos, sea pottery and bottle stoppers, sea glass, buttons and stamps. This piece of wall art is made from a repurposed printer's tray frame. Originally this would have held printer's type, so the frame has an authentic aged and distressed look. Inside the tray, I have created a permanent collection of found objects. Each item is firmly fixed in place so you can hang this display on a wall. The display reminds me of old Victorian collections or old fashioned museum displays. I have collected and curated all the items on display. Some are sea shore finds discovered walking around the British coast, with ancient fossils, sea urchins, pearlescent shells and smooth tumbled sea pottery and sea glass. Others are little vintage objects which no longer have a great purpose, but which look too interesting to throw away - old stamps, partial domino sets, faded sepia photos. And a collection of clock workings, verdigris coated nails, driftwood, and sun bleached bird and animal bones. Collected together, these items form a unique and intriguing piece of art which would look good in your living area, hallway, book nook (or library if you have one!) study or man cave. Just in case you're wondering, nothing has been harmed for this display - any bones/shells/urchins have all been found washed up, empty of life, and cleaned and bleached by the elements. The whole display has been created from found objects so it is very much reused, recycled, repurposed art. The only new parts are the picture cord and hooks! All my printer's trays are vintage and have been treated for woodworm, just in case. All items are very securely fixed in place using specialist glues.
